JOHN FULLER'S ACTION.
Most of our readers will remember the John Fuller libel action, reported at some length in our columns a few days ago. On Monday evening last, according to the Auckland "Star," an overflowing audience, including many 'prominent citizens and members of the legal fraternity, assembled at the King's Theatre, attracted by the announcement that Mr Fuller would contribute two vocal items and also deliver a lecturette on "Judges and Judges." When Mr Fuller appeared on the stage he received an ovation, and was loudly applauded for his singing of "When a Little While Has Flown" and "The Pilgrim r Love." He followed with an account of the recent action, and the "Star" says, "facetious criticism being interspersed with trenchant denunciation, various persons concerned in the proceedings came in for scornful comment." The audience laughed heartily at the points made, particularly one turned against Sir John Findlay in connection with liis defeat at the Parnell election, and the merriment' was increased when several caricatures were thrown on the screen. Finally, Mr Fuller submitted a motion, expressing the opinion of the gathering that the circumstances of the trial were such as to warrant'a departmental inquiry to ascertain whether the plaintiff' did or did not receive justice. A member of the 1 audience seconded the proposition, arid a few' hands went Tip ' in favour, only one or two againset. Th*audience appeared to be indulgent and sympathetic.
