THE KAIMATA TRAGEDY.

The Waitara Alai I says;—“There is still no sign of Virgin. We are given to understand that the police are modifying their theory about drowning, and consider it not improbable that tne man did away with himself in the hush, and may possibly have wandered some way. For ourselves, we think the demented man did go into tho river, and that with the Hood at the time, the body was carried rapidly down. “Constable La,Couple left this (Wednesday) morning on a four or live days’ tour of the backblocks, in order to ascertain if there have been any signs of Virgin. He will make very careful enquiries, and will spare no pains in an endeavour to solve tho problem. The beach on both sides of tho Waitara river has recently been traversed by Detective Eodham and Constables La Pouplo and Boulton, and still a daily watch is being maintained.“
