ANTI-MILITARISM.
A FRACTIOUS CADET

A cadet, who is also secretary of the Freedom League, who tv as charged with not drilling, pleaded that as a Christian he could have nothing to do with military training. He wishco to follow Christ’s teachings, which were against military activity. He claimed that liberty under the Union Jack gave freedom of speech and action. The Magistrate, in ordering him into military custody, asked how the Union Jack was kept flying—by principle/ such as his or preparedness for war. The cadet quoted Queen Victoria’s remark,that the Bible was the secret of England’s greatness.
