WRECK OF THE DEVON.
j THE LATEST NEWS. LANDING THE CREW. [Per Press Association.] Wellington, August 26. The latest from the wreck shows that the Devon will probably be a total loss. There are 60 men aboard, and these are being landed by a line at the rate of about six an hour. The vesel has 1000 tons of general merchandise from Montreal aboard. The eea is still rough. i GETTING *ASHORE SLOWLY. Lloyds' agent had communication with one of the officers of the Devon, whose report is that lie believed tne bottom of the vessel is ripped from the engine room to the stern. The agents have sent supplies for the use of the men, who will be accommodated at the lighhouse building for the night. The proceedings at the landing of the crew are very slow, and will take the rest of the day.
