Miss Edith Hockey was drowned in the sight of 500 people at AtlanticCity, New, Jersey, yesterday. The onlookers were mostly men, and only 6ne dared to go into the rough surf to the girl's rescue. The exception Avas.Rufus Bradley, a negro. He plunged into the water, fully clad, but became exhausted struggling with the waves, and was washed up on tho beach unconscious.
