Sartieux, administrator of tin French Channel Tunnel Company, warmly advocates the scheme. Ho regards the sea passage as the greatest obstacle to close relations between England, France, and the whole Con tiuent.London, August 22. Lord Sydenham warmly advocate* the Channel tunnel, but Lord Laming ton prefers the girdle of water to pro tect England from invasion', rathe: than permit a steel structure capable of rapid repair to be built.
