WAIRARAPA DEFEATS MARLBOROUGH. * [Feu Press Association.] Carterton, August 21. Wairarapa defeated Marlborough to-day by 17 to 8. The forwards were evenly matched, but in the first spell the visiting hacks had all the best of it. THE B. TOUR. Owing to several members not being able to secure the necessary leave, it has been found advisable to curtail the B team’s tour somewhat. The match which was to have been played at Levin to-morrow against the Herowhenua, Union has accordingly boon abandoned. The team will, however, journey to Wanganui on Thursday to play the Wanganui B team, and will also play the Wairoa Sub-Union at Patea on the following Saturday. YESTERDAY’S B MATCH. The match in New Plymouth yesterday between the Auckland and Taranaki B teams proved highly interesting, the visitors winning by nine points to three. The home team did not take the field as picked, no loss than six of those originally picked being unable to play. The-match proved willing, two Taranaki men being knocked out. The Auckland men were superior in all departments. Taranaki played a good game, but larked combination, Auckland got first blood with a try scored by McDonald, and a try scored by Frosdick made the score fi to nil. Taranaki’s points were put on by Carroll. who grounded the hall after a pretty passing bout. Auckland’s last score was a try by Barclay. Mr M . Koch was referee.
