A LIBERAL VICTORY. (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] (Received 9.30 a.m.) The Chesterfield bye-election resulted: Kenyon (Liberal) 7725; Christie (Unionist) 5539; Scurr (Socialist) 583. LIBERALS AND LABOR. THE SPLIT. (Received 8.25 a.m.) London, August 21. Mr Harvey at Cheserfield, criticised the Labour Party’s action. He declared that lie would refuse to live longer in such an atmosphere, and he refused to obey the Party’s dictation as to which lobby he should vote in. The Party was not so independent as it pretended. (Received 9.5 a.m.) Home Rule was hardly mentioned in the Chesterfield election campaign. The chief interest is in the split between the' Liberals and Labour.
