ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
A DROWNING FATALITY. [Per Press 4ssooiation.] Westport, August 19. A boat, presmhably belonging to a I Frenchman named Tardi, a resident of Westport, got into the breakers off Cape Foul wind this afternoon and was swamped, and the occupant drowned. No one got a very clear view of the accident. The harbor tug went out and searched the vicinity, but saw nothing of the boat or the missing man. All other boats known to have left the port in that direction to-day have been traced. Tardi had been in Westport some years ago as cook on a sailing vessel. He had artistic tastes, which were given effect to in paintings in every color in oils. As far as is known locally, ho has no relatives in Now Zealand. WOMAN FATALLY BURNED. Wellington, August 20. Mrs Violet Campbell, residing in Sydney street, was fatally bruned last night. She was filling a kerosene lamp, when it upset, and the oil ignited and caught her clothing. Mrs Campbell was severely burned about the body and was removed to the hospital, but died a few hours later.
