The machine became water logged and drifted seawards and the engine stopped. The pilot and mechanic were imperilled, but were rescued after fifteen minutes buffeting. The engine was flooded. Besides suffering from/ sunstroke. Harry Hawker has severely strained eyes through discarding goggles, and head pains because he did not use the silencer on the engine. THE DAILY MAIL CONTEST. It is doubtaful if McLean will start in the Daily Mail’s contest owing to continued engine trouble with his short biplane.
