HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. [Per Press Association.] Wellington, August 18. Following is tlie High Commissioner's cable, dated August 16oh :—. Butter.—The market is quiet. Danish and Dutch is Is 2d per cwt. dearer, Australian Is 2:1 lower, and others unchanged. Cheese.—The market is very firm for New Zealand, the stock of which is almost exhausted. New Zealand white 675, colored GOs, Canadian whito (54s 6d to (565, colored 65s to 665. The Canadian make to date is 3000 tons less than last year. Canadian shipments are 5000 tons short. "Wool.—The market is firm but has not advanced. There is general confidence in the maintenance of present prices.
NEWTON KING'S STRATFORD WEEKLY REPORT. Ab the Haymarket on Saturday there was a good attendance. ■ Pigs were penned in smaller numbers than of late, prices ruling showing a sharp ri.se all round. I. quote slips and weaners 12s to 18s 6d, small stores £1 0s fcicl to £1 Bs, medium do. £1 9» 6d to £1 19s, sows £2 12s 6d to £6 i»a 6d, horses'£lo to £l4 10s, milk cart« £5 5s to £ll 15s, calves 2s 6d to 16s, hens 2s 5d to 2s lOd, roosters 2t to 2s 6d, jacks £1 10s to £3 10s, sundries, etc., selling well.
