Thirteen smallpox cases were report-! i-d in the metropolitan area to-day. in-] eluding the wife of a coachman employed at Cranbrook, the State Government House. She resides with her husband and son on the Cranbrook Estate. She postponed vaccination, although all others there, including the Governor, were vaccinated some time ago. The total cases in Sydney since the cut break are 499. S.'ven smallpox cases were reported on Saturday, including one .of a policeman. The week's patients included a schoolboy at St. Joheph's College, Hunter's Hill. The building and grounds have been quarantined.
THE DISEASE IN QUEENSLAND, Brisbane, August 17. All the contacts have been released from quarantine, leaving only two pa tients, who are nearly well. THE PAHIATUA PATIENT. Pahiatua, August 17. The local smallpox patient who came from Auckland has completely recovered. He will be discharged on Monday. There have been no other cases here and nearly everyone has been vaccinated.
