Cochran have been formed with the object of building defenders of the America Cup. The New York Club firmly refuses to sign with Sir Thomas Lipton an agreement making it binding that th< Cup defender shall not exceed a definite size. It is understood, however, that the members of the syndicate have agreed to the size approximately that Sir Thomas Lipton's challenge specifies.
