Paris, August 15
The Petit Parisien’s St. Petersburg correspondent states that the expedition to Nova Zemhla discovered the diary of the last survivor of a fishing colony of a hundred persons, which "was established in 1009, showing that tho colony was neglected. Supplies wore cut off for ten months, and all perished from disease and starvation. Tho dead lay around in tho bare huts, several clasping tlieir children.
The diary’s’ last entry .showed tha! the; companions ate the clothing of the corpses and wrote until their lingers and eyes failed.
