The most interesting figure in eon neetion with the Hon. W. Frafier’s visit to Y/hangamomona was Mrs Walker, whose husband occupies a holding,in the Marangae Block, on tho other side of the Tangarakau Kivor. She bore unmistagable evidence of travel, being mud-spattered. Her application was heard early, also, to enable her to get a start on her homeward journey. She made a strong plea for help, and she is deserving of every credit, not only for braving tho life in the back country, hut also for her action in undertaking a long, tiring and dangerous journey in order to impress on the Minister the danger to settlers’ lives which exists owing to imperfect reading. The Minister did not make any definite promises to any of the deputations, hut his reply to Mrs Walker was as sympathetic as any he made.
