Manaia Road Cottage: This Is nearing completion. | Cardiff Cottage; Arrangements have been made to have this overhauled and repaired. I Cardiff Road Filling; No posts have yet been obtained for fencing this. I recommend that tenders be 'invited for supply of 100 posts. I Roller: The roller has done good j work on Ohura Road. It is now in ithe south riding rolling the re-faced 'portion of Finnerty Road. After tins j the remaining port ions of Mountain Road will be treated and the Cheal I Road metalling carried out j Beaconsfield and Ahnroa Road Culverts: The former has been completed ■and a start made with the latter, i Malum Road West; I have mspected this road and find the unmetalled portion and about U miles of metal considerably out of repair as a result of the cartage to the scene of the boiino- operations. I propose interviewing the manager of the company re compensation for damage. Puniwhakau Surfaceman: I recommend that applications be invited to fill this position.

FOREMEN’S REPORTS. North Riding .(West): The Radnor Rond has been blinded and re-rolled end an old culvert replaced with ten 18in. pipes. The York Road has been trimmed up. The new metal will he blinded forthwith and repairs made to upper end. Arrangements have been made to get out a email quantity of metal on Barclay Road. All other roads have had minor repairs carried out. . North Riding (East): During the month patching and general repairs have been carried out on BeaconsheUh Stanley, Cross and Croydon, Rent, Terrace, Cross, Salisbury, Esk mid Oordon South Roads. Some new, deck planks have been put into the Makino Bridge. ~ . , South Riding; A filling has been, widened on Climie Road and barberry planted along fences on tins and Mountain Road. "West Riding; The Rowan Road North is breaking up badly owing to firewood carting. The Hastings Road has had extensive repairs carried out on it, also Opunake Road No. 2. A wooden culvert has been put in on Waingongoro Road and two deck planks in the Waingongoro Bridge. Maugaehu Riding: A temporary bridge has been erected at washout on Taurafcawa Road. The Puni Road formation is proceeding satisfactorily. Pipes have been carted up to Taihore Road, ready for putting in. The Puniwhakau Road is cutting up badly with existing the traffic.

GENERAL. The tender of H. A. Julian was accepted for the supply of 3000 yards of crushed metal. The matter of grazing for the West Riding foreman’s horse was left in the hands of the Engineer and Cr, Smith.

The Engineer was instructed to put in hand repairs and renewal of bridges on Waihapa and Oru Roads. It was decided that on receipt oi a subsidy of £3 from Mr Jones about 500 feet" of wooden kerbing he done on the south side of the main road m Toko township. A.
