SOLOMON ISLANDS.
DEFECTIVE ADMINISTRATION. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright 1 [United Press Association.] (Received 10.4 a.m.) Sydney, August 14. The Rev. Goldie, chairman of the Solomon Islands Methodist District, declares that the administration law is not creditable to British rule. In fact it was a travesty on justice. Some of the deeentest natives were sent to gaol without trial; the only evidence being uncorroborated tittletattle of a favorite of a Magistrate. Other guilty rascals, favorites of officials, were left at liberty. Mast arbitrary methods prevail even in regard to Europeans. Punitive expeditions let young hot-heads traverse villages, burning and slaughtering indiscriminately. |Mri Goldie believes that the Solomons are destined to he the most important commercial centre in the Pacific.
