RAZORS IN THE AIR.
In America they say that no negro is duly outfitted without his razor—to be used on occasion offensively. Recently a Supreme Court judgment in the State of Mississippi laid it down that a razor is not a weapon, but “an implement of toilet.” The London Telegraph’s correspondent in New York reports that the decision was hailed with joy by tbe negroes in the city of Jackson. Statistics show that Americans of African descent are even more ready than the Western whites to whip out their weapons when provoked. This engaging custom has made many a negro party end in a sanguinary melee. A correspondent in Jackson says that out of gratitude to the Court, for returning the razor to its honoured plaice in the vest pocket the negro cotillion leaders “have organised what they call a' Supreme Razor Club, which will have charge of social events among the village cutups. Tbe decision promises to create a revival of interest in tbe turkey trot, tango, pickerel flip, and supper lurch.”
