The meeting passed off otherwise most successfully, everything working smoothly and in a most orderly manner, in a large degree owing to the energy and enthusiasm displayed by the phib’s stewards, 3 n d officials. The totnlisator management under Messrs Marrett and Fox was eminently satisfactory. ■ ■
The race meeting showed-a profit of £IO2O 18s lid, which would have been a record if the stakes had not been increased by £290 (£1515, as against £1225). As it is, the profit is only some £4O less than that of the previous year.
A profit of £ll6 17s 6d has been made on the Farm Account, which is duo to the good-'work. done.by Mr S. Pitt, the Club’s able Farm Committee, to whom our best thanks are due.
vr The General Account shows an excess of expenditure.£ over .receipts amounting to £502 16s. lid, and the usual ten per cent, depreciation has been written off the Club’s improvements and plant.
A new tot-alrsator lion.se has been built, greatly facilitating the work of the totalisator staff, and-adding to the comfort of investors. Several minor;; but none; the less important, improvements were made to the Club’s other buildings and fences. During the year the balance of the Club’s property has been stumped and cleared, and' the whole of the property has now been under the plough. A comprehensive loading scheme has also been initiated, and the formation is rapidly approaching completion. This will give easy and short access from the Pembroke Road to the enclosures and stands along the western boundary of the Club’s property, and will provide for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic in a most complete “manner yTh© whole roadway'.will.he gravelled before the coming meeting.'; The course; has also been kept in thorough good order by the'caretaker, and sundry improvements have been from time to time •carried-out by him. The training track is also being improved, the sum of £SO having been allocated for this purpose.
Under the Rules,, of the Club, the three members of the Committee to retire arc Messrs' W’. P. Kirkwood, H. Good, and W. 4. Morrison, all of whom are eligible for re-election. Mi' H. Good has, however, definitely resigned from the Committee.- Two of the vacancies will he filled by appointments by the guarantors, and the remaining one by-election by the members. (Rule IG.) For the Commitlee, (Signed) A. W. PUDGE, Chairman.
