On Friday, Ist inst., at my Waiwakaiho yards, 1 had a good entry ol stock', a good number being dairy
cows and heifers, for which there was an improved market. Store catth. sold, under keen competition as follows:—Yearling steers, best, £2 J2s Gd to £2 15s Gd, smaller £1 13s to £1 119 s, yearling heifers from £2 7s G:J |to £3 Is, 20 months empty heifers |£3 13s Gd to £4 IBs Gd for good color, |bulls £1 10s to £o ss, aged working ibullocks £9 15s, store cows £3 to £1 I Is, forward cows £1 7s to £5 2s Gd, fat cows £5 13s to £6 10s, heifers calved £6, springing heifers, choice Jerseys up to £9, good £5 12s Gd to £6, poor £3 15s to "£4'los, dairy cows from £6 10s to £8 log, aged or culls £3 2s Gd to £4 ss, hoggets 10s. At Toko, on Monday, 4th inst., there was an improved yarding am a good clearance was effected as follows Yearling heifers £2 19s Gd, store cows (aged) £2 9s, good storf cows £3 11s Gd to £4 2s Gd, forward cows £4 17s to £5 Bs, dairy cows £4 15s to £6 2s Gd, fat cows £7 15s. springing heifers £5 10s to £/ 15s.
On Tuesday, sth August, for nr usual fortnightly cattle sale, T had r fair entry of 560 ■store cattle, 130 dairy cattle and 361 sheep in my Stratford yards, with , a fine attendance from all parts. There was a stroup demand with keen competition, result ing in a further advance in value* for all classes of cattle. ,'Jii the .dairy pens springing heifers sold vein readily at prices easily £1 per head improvement on my last sale. Witt very few exceptions the whole yard ing was cleared at the following prices:—Mixed, yearlings £2 9s to £2 IBs 6d, Jersey-Holstein yearling heif err., choice line, £4 10s 6d, £3 16s 6d. £3 16s, £3 11s 6d, £3 Us. During the week sales have heei conducted every day, and prices haw been very well maintained, yonip cows showing good quality and calv ing early selling readily. At Kiorc on Friday, Ist ilist. for .Mr A. E. Stockley’s sale, then was a good attendance, best cowr selling at from £8 15s to £ll, Septcm licr and October culvers from~£6 t< £8 15s, cows in milk £6 10s to £' 15s, averaging £8 5s for the line. I) calf heifers brought £1 to ! £l’7s 6d‘ empty heifers £3 17s Gd to £3 18s bulls £3 15s to £5, wearier 'heifer, £2 Is to £2 10s, mixed ewes in lam' Jos. At the. Waiwakaiho yards on tin, same day, Mr C. Bridger’s dair\ herd from the Junction Road, Ingle wood, averaged £8 3s Gd; young choice cows right to profit realised from £1( to £1 (, good sorts £8 to £9 ss, others rather aged £5 15s to £7 ss, aged man £G. Mr A. C. Xitz’s herd were von mixed, the prices obtained being qrrik satisfactory considering the quality of the cows. The younger cows made up to £7 ss, other's sold according te ago at from £3 to £4 15s.
At Riverlea on Monday, 4tli hist., for Mr H. J. Valentine’s sale, then war; a good attendance, and the herd being a good lot, very well known elicited keen -bidding, the lino of 47 making a fine average of £ll 12s pci head. J’he herd of 137 cows were in good condition, the line (which included 30 2nd culvers and 20 empty cows) made a satisfactory average of £7 12s Gd.
