DOMAIN BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Domain Board was held yesterday, when there were present: Messrs W. P. Kirkwood (in the chair), T. H. Penn, P. Thomson, R. McK. Morison and G. Hunter (secretary). The chairman was authorised to make arrangements for renewal of sign-posts in connection with the parks.

A letter was received from the Borough Council, asking if the Board had any young trees suitable for planting in Borough streets. The opinion was expressed that trees for the street should be at least seven feet high to thfe first ‘branch; and it was stated that the Board had no suitable trees.' ' ' ‘ Mr Morison said the chief expense would be in protecting the trees. The protection would need to be capable of withstanding a dray running against it. Mr Perth said the best course was to take no chance of the trees being destroyed. The chairman said it would be better to plant only a few trees which were properly selected than to plant a great many trees which were not suitable.

It was finally decided f to offer to donate to the Borough' Council for street planting any trees of suitable growth. 0 ■ .... . 1 . • 1 I
