ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
DOUBLE DROWNING FATALITY. [Per Press Association.] Auckland,- August 0. Charles Chanson and William Hindley, both, married, were drowned in the harbor to-day from the tug Young Bungaree. Both men were seen in the stern of the boat- locked in one another's arms, apparently skylarking. A little later Clanson was noticed, struggling in the water, and- was picked up by a launch, but was found already to be dead. The police searched" and dragged the harbor for the other man's body, but so far it has not been recovered.
FOUND DROWNED. : Pahiatua, August 6. Mrs J. Dick, wife of Mr Jame* Dick, a well-known and very highly respected settler in the Ngaturi district, was found drowned in the Tiraumea .river., early ;.tjiis morning. She had not been in good health lately and passed a =res;tle«B night. ACCIDENT- >TO A JOCKEY. Hastings, August 6.
A. jockey named W. Wo.pds, attached to James Munn's training stables, met with a serious accident on the "racecourse. Woods had been exercising the horse Waipureku, and was riding back to the , scraping sheds when the horse staggered and dropped dead, rolling heavily on his rider. It was, apparent that Woods was seriously injured,, and he was removed in an ambulance to ,the Napier Hospital,, where an examination disclosed serious injuries,.to the,,spine. This afternoon he is.in. a critical condition, and fatal results are feared.
