SKATING RINK DESTROYED

A building at Olive, used as a skating rink, was totally destroyed by fire yesterday. There was no' water sup-' ply, but a bucket brigade prevented the flames spreading to a bakery adjoining. The insurance -on the building, owned by J. 'A. Weathered, was £275 in the New Zealand Office. /The piano ‘and‘skates were insured for £4O iin the -National-office; - “ "• : "
A fAM ‘FACTORY BURNED. Christchurch, .Apgust ,i. Th« Pioneer JeM jPajcfyry J road, Avonside, was destroyed by fir© this' morning. The building wAs out of the fire radius, and no water was available. It was totally destroyed. The building, stock and plant were insured in tha Standard office for £990, and the contents in tha Naw Z«*l*nd office for £2OO.
