(Received 12.55 a.m.) Vancouver, August 1
Speaking at North Vancouver, at the i luncheon in reply to the Mayor’s rcl mark that Canada ought really to be | ashamed, of herself in not having yet [done anything for the Empire’s dcj fence, Captain Halsey said he did not 'agree that everybody in the Empire was loyal except Canada. The Motherland" knew, Canada was as loyal and patriotic a country as any the Empire possessed, even although it had not done as others in the way of contributihg. It was not a question of L. s. d., but the" Canadians bad not yet made up their minds what form I their .contributions would take. Captain Halsey added that, it was, certain whatever Canada was going to do, it would be done right well. (Loud cheers.)
