The day out very rough, *coW and wet, but notwithstanding this there was a very largo attendance of the public from all parts of the district, competition being keen for all cows shoeing youth and. quality, but aged stock did not meet with such keer. oidding. The rain was so heavy that Mr Ti.-week decided to sell the stock ia his shed, ,vhLl detracted considerably from their value, as intending buyers could not see the cows as in tIK open yard. However, the salt \>as considered a good one, realised being as follows:—£11 15s, £ll 5«, £ll, £lO 10s, £9 10s, £9 ss, £9, £8 15s, £8 10s, £8 ss, £B, £7 15s, £7 10s, £7, £6 15s. The average for

Holstein springing heifers, 2 years old, advertised with slight reserve, were passed in at £9 10s, as tho owner expected more money. Grade heifers, rising 2 years, realised from £6 to £8 10s, yearling heifers, low in condition and looking badly owing to tho rough day, attracted keen bidding, and made frum 60s to 126 s from a Palmerston North buyer. Pedigree Holstein bull "Lord Bounty" attracted keen local lidding, and was sold at 60gns., and we understand that tho purchaser was offered a much higher price after the sale. The purebred Ayrshire bull made lOgns to a local buyer. On Tuesday, 22nd inst., we held a -•tearing sale on account of Mr H. F. Haycock, Finnerty Road, Lowgarth. The day was showery, but there was a very large attendance and a good supply of purchasers. The sundries, which were in good order, sold at very high prices. The day was very fine and the attendance large for a sale where no sundries were offered, no less than twenty buyers being present from all parts of Taranaki. The cows showed youth, and were in fair condition, bidding being particularly prompt, as the 56 cows were put through in 70 minutes, which is very fast, and this was notwithstanding that there was. some loss of time now and again owing to some of the cows getting over the low yards, which were erected for the sale. Prices realised were as follows:—£l3 15s, £l3, £l2 15s, £l2 10s, £l2. £ll 15s, £ll 10s,, £ll ss, £lO 15s, £lO 10s, £lO ss, £lO, £9 15s, £9 10s, £9 ss, £9, £8 15s, £8 10s, £8 ss, £B.
