ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
KILLED BY A TAXI
[Feb Phi:ss Association.] , Christchurch, July 25
An inquest was opened to-day concerning Mio death of Ada Lena Heath Bradley, who was fatally injured last night as the result of a collision with a taxicab. The girl's mother stated deceased was riding in the middle of the tramlines, and witness was on the wrong side of the road. A lamp, was on each bicycle. Witness heard a taxi coming behind and got off her bicycle at the lamp post to allow it to go past. The taxi was coming on the tramlines and seemed to be going fairly fast. Witness heard a crash as if the taxi had run into something, and when she went across found her daughter lying on the ground. Medical evi dence was given and the inquest was adjourned till Tuesday.
A CONSTABLE SHOT. Christchurch, July 25
Constable Carney, of Lyttelton, while arresting a man to-night, was shot in the left arm, and taken to the hospital at Christchurch, where a bullet was found embedded in the arm.
A WOMAN'S SUICIDE. Hamilton, July 20
A niarried woman named Corncille, 37, a Belgian, is supposed to have thrown herself from the .Hamilton railway bridge into the Waikato river 100 feet below. She had been ill for a long time and had denied her body nourishment, believing that starvation would effect a cure, and her mind became unhinged.
