London, July 24. The Medical Association Conference
discussed sea-bathing. Dr. Johns, director of the consumptive sanatorium
at Bournemouth, had no hesitation in saying that all diseases were benefited by sea-bathing, amongst them tuberculosis. It was deserving of a prominent place. Ho regretted that the profession insufficiently appreciated its benefits. Dr. Dale declared that judicious sea-bathing was a most powerful means of combating asthma. Lisbon, July 24.
There are grave reports of disaffection amongst the Syndicalist sailors oh the warships. The Monarchist Journal has been suppressed. New York, July 24.
The United States is convulsed with the denouement of a bomb scare. The officers of the Carnegie Corporation received a suspicious packet and handed it to an official scientist for inves-
tigation. It was taken to a lone place and riddled with bullets, but proved to ho a Limburger cheese.

Mr Outhwaite, in the House of Commons, asked that Lord Gladstone ho instructed to submit a statement representing the Rand workers’ views nf the cause of the strike. Mr L. V. Harcourt refused, and stated that a Commission was enquiring into the strike.

The Times in a leader on the state of the turf, says: If we accept the verdict of the jury as a just presentation of the facts, and their unsatisfactory comment on the state of racing in this country as the great point which it is possible to urge in favor of Wootton, who was qualified by undoubted talents to succeed at racing, it is almost inconceivable that he deliberately elected to run crooked. The Times urges the stewards of the Jockey Club to pay close attention t» the so-called Foals Stake.

If we wanted to raise up a ; I'&cb immune from disease, and if we desired to retain our ■ 1 1V(. vast possessions we must raise a manlier and breed a better ruling stock than those now directing tho destinies or onlv physique but moral and intellectual capacity.
London, July 24. An interesting debate is expected at tho annual conference of the Labor Party, at Glasgow, on the Acceptance of Government posts by lahbr and socialist leaders during six years of 374 appointments to the Board ,pf Trade, National Insurance, (Home Office, and other departments.
