DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB

At the annual meeting of the Dunedin Jockey Club to-night, the President, Sir G. McLean, sated that the gross profit for the year was £5405, the best in the history of the club. The attendances had shown a gratifying increase, and the stakes had been increased by £790. The totalisator investments were £633,163 more than those for the previous year. The stakes had been increased from £5640 to £11,290, but something further would yet have to be done. He thought the stake for. the Dunedin Cup should be increased to £IOOO, and the money for another race augmented. These proposals would have to come before the committee. Sir Geo. McLean was re-elected president.
A Sydney cablegram states that the New Zealand horse Captain Jingle started in the Uiupua Stceplcheaso, but broke down and was pulled up.
