NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY REPORT.

On Tuesday, 15th inst., at my Ilaliotu yards, yearling heifers made from £2 os to £2 17s 6d, yearling steers £2 2s, small or bad colored £1 5s to £1 10s M, store cows £3 10s to £3 17s, dairy cows £7, small IS month steers £3 iOs, weaner bulls £l. CLEARING SALES. On Friday, 11th inst., on the farm at Kaipikiri, Urenui, for Mr Err H. Daveny's sale,, owing to the very boisterous weather, there was not a large attendance of the public. The cows were young, but were mostly late calvers. Competition for the latter was not keen, but early calvers made very satisfactory prices. Early calvers made up to £lO, late calvers £6 10s to £7 ss, poor conditioned or , very late £3 to £5 ss. At the Urenui yards on Monday, 1-itli inst., 1 offered Mrs Ellen Perrott's dairy herd. These cows were low in condition, no dates were available, and there were several aged cows in the line, consequently they did not make a high average. Best cows sold at from £8 10s to £ll ss, later calvers £6 5s to £7 15s, aged, poor or empty £3 5s to £4 15s. The herd of 43 (which included 13 that sold under £5) averaged £6 5s 3d. On the same day at Waipuku, for Mr Jos. Miller's dairy herd, the line of 30 cows averaged £8 Bs, best young cows, good quality, from £lO to £l2 10s, young cows £7 15s to £9, late calvers, aged, £s' to £lO ss. At Lepperton on Tuesday, 15th inst,

[ conducted a sale on account of Mr W. Lovell. The cows were poor conditioned and included a good number of 3 year olds on their 2nd calf—mostly small. At Huii-oa, on Thursday, I held a sale'of pedigree and grade cattle on account of Mr D. Watkin. 3The stock was all in good condition, both pe'di* gree and grades showing tots of quality and were considerably aboj&e ithe average. Prices for the pedigree cattle were not quite up to expectations, and were in favour of buyers. The 16 grade cows, which were a particularly fine lot, made from £9 to £23, with' an average of £l4 10s. Ambury "Signaf Queen," to Mr John HffTe 26gns M "Signal Lass" to Mr John Hale 22* gns. Pedigree Berkshire sows 2 to 6Jgns., pedigree Berkshire boars 2 to 2igns., store pigs £1 0s 6d. The 40 cows offered on account of Mr W. Phillips were a really good line, selling very readily from £5 10s to £ls 10s, this herd averaging just £lO. PRIVATE SALES.

I have to report an excellent de'mand for practically all classes, and during the week sales have been made as follows :—Mixed yearlings 275, small £1 10s, good line of Shorthorn yearling steers £2 10s, fair lines £1 18s to £2 3s, empty heifers £3 10s, in calf 2k year heifers £5, line of 18 months in calf and empty £3 10s, 2 year steers (nice lot of 70 well grown cattle) £4 2s, 18 and 20 month steers £3 14s, £3 13s 6d, £3 12s 6d, £3 lie 3d £3 10s, £3 4s, grade bull £8 8s 3d, dairy herds £8 to £lO, 2} and 3 year steers in forward condition £6 to £0 6s, 2J- year steers £5 12s 6d, £5 8s od, £5 ss, £5, with color £4 10s, store cows £3 12a 6d to £4, fat cows £6 13s, fat ewes 18s, 2-tooth ewes 14s, in lamb empty ewes 12s 6d, forward ewes 15s, fat wethera 19s od, store wethers 15s to 17s, lambs 10s to lis 9d.
