IMPORTANT R ESOLUTIONS. [Per Press Association.] Wellington, July 18. At the Farmers' Union Conference the following remits were adopted:— That the attention of the Railway Department be again drawn to the scarcity of rolling stock for the conveyance of farm produce and to the loss and extreme annoyance caused to farmers thereby.

That the Government be again urged to adopt the scheme of through booking by rail and sea, and that the Postmaster-General be asked to convene a conference of all interested in this scheme by way of coming to some definite understanding. That the Conference urges the Government to pass the Stallion Bill prepared by the Veterinary Department.

That the time has come when the Government should further encourage the importation of pedigree stock by arranging a reduction of freight and

quarantine charges. That all cows that have suffered from contagious mammitis be branded with a Government brand to safeguard buyers at stock auction sales, and that the Government be requested to pass legislation that will prevent cows suffering from contagious mammitis being sold as dairy cows, and that the Government be urged to do their uttermost to have the disease stamped out.

That the Government be urged to assist the dairy farmer in stamping out the bovine tuberculosis.

That this conference urge upon the Government that where possible inspectors of stock would be veterinary surgeons, and, wherever possible, the advice and assistance of Government veterinaries be made available in all country districts at a small fee, and that greater facilities should be given for instructing young men in veterinary science." Wellington, July .18. The conference to-day passed the following resolution, winch was brought forward by Mr Talbot (South Canterbury)—"That this conference considers the time has arrived for each provincial district to set up deft-nee committees of town and country residents to take action to prevent strikee and also to organiser free labor.to take the place of strikers shonid employees cease work."
