Obituary: Edjin Armes Beaumont, formerly a favourite operatic tenor, aged seventy-two.-Melbourne cable.
Mr S. B. Dodge (borough engineer at Te Kuiti) has been appointed Borough Engineer at Hastings from 34 applicants. Mr P. R. Purser (Town Clerk at Lower Hutt), has been appointed to a similar position in Has.*V from five applicants.—Press Association.
Mr L. J. Trollope, one of the oldest school teachers in New South Wales, and formerly of New Zealand, has just retired after twenty-four years' continuous service at Parramatta. Mr Trollope commenced teaching at Hobart sixty years ago. Five years later he was on the staff of the King's School, Parramatta, for a time, as headmaster. In 1874 he opened a school at Onehunga, and in 1889 returned to Parramatta, where he has remained ever since. Mr Trollops is a brother of the famous novelist of that name.
