On May 28th, 1859, after having previously renounced his rights as eldest son of the Duke of Bavaria, he contracted a morganatic marriage with Henrietta Mendel, a beautiful young actress who was created Baroness von Wallersee. The only offspring of the union was the Countess of Larisch, associated with the Crown Prince Rudolph of Austria, who came to such an untimely end, and about whose death so many strange stories were circulated. The Countess of Larisch has just published a very interesting book entitled "My Story," in which she gives her version of her dealings with the Crown Prince.
