• Sydney, July 16. The New Zealand University team completed its tour with an unbeaten , ,-ecord, playing Its third match I against Sydney University, then- credit being 30 to 13. The weather was fine and the attendance reached a The home team opened strongly, placing two converted goals tb their credit in the first quarter or an hour. For the remainder of the spell the visitors were in the ascendant, Fisher from a line-out and Fawcett from a scrum scoring an unconverted trv each. At half-time the score was': Sydney 10, New Zealand 6. In the second half the New Zealanders livened up, and ran over thenopponents. Their play and combination were excellent. Towards the close, by brilliant play Faire obtained two tries, and Quilliam, Fisher, Patll--7 son and Cartwright one each, of which Child!i converted two and Ryan one. Svdney added an unconverted try.

NORTH v. SOUTH,

The following team'has been picked ito represent the North Island against the South Island at Christchurch on July 26:—Full-back, O'Leary (Auckland) ; three-quarters, McGregor (Auckland), Roberts (Taranaki), and JStohr (Taranaki); five-eighths, Geddes /Auckland) and Ramsden (Wellington); half, E. Roberts (Wellington); wing forward, Dustin (Wanganuii; forwards, Sellars (Auckland), Cain (Taranaki),, Gillespie (Wellington). McKenzie (Wairarapa), Paton (Wel--4 lington), Wilson (Wellington), and Bruce (Auckland).

NEW ZEALAND RUGBY UNION

Wellington, July 16. The Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union to-night received a letter from the English Union regarding the reinstatement of players who had signed the Northern Union form, or had played with or against Northern Union players. The

letter proceeded:— "My committee have considered the matter, but are IS -unable to relax tho rules for players of maturer age than seventeen. Here tho reinstatement of youths under seventeen has been found in certain districts to bo helpful in controverting the machinations of the Northern Union emissaries. Each case, however, has to bo very carefully judged on its own merits, and it is not obligatory for your Union either to adopt or make a trial of it." It was decided "that a copy of the letter be sent to all Unions, with a letter pointing out that only this committee has power to exercise their discretion, and that this discretion will he exercised only in very exceptional

cases."

Tn reply to a. communication from tho Wanganui Union in regard to the payment of expenses to member? of the New Zealand team for California, it was decided to inform them of the decision already arrived at on the matter: that no daily allowance will l>e made, but that all reasonable travelling expenses will be paid. In connection with the North v.

Smith Island match, to he played at fchristohurch on July 26th, it was decided to instruct the South Island team to assemble at Christehurch not later than July 24, and the North Istand team not later than July -if).

It was decided to ask Mr CI. H. Mason (Christehurch) president of the Union, to accept the position of manager of the Xevv Zealand team for California.

THE LEAGUE GAME

Auckland, July 17

Provincial Rugby League delegates passed a resolution in favor of the transfer of the headquarters to Wellington by 14 to 4. The Wellington Rugby rep. team decided to accept an Auckland referee) for Saturday's match with Auckland, and probably Gaorge Nicholson will be appointed.
