IMPORTANT SALE OF JERSEY CATTLE,

The special attention of farmers h clirectod to tire very important sal. of pedigree and pure-bred Jersey eat tie, wnich Mr .Newton King is to, conduct on Thursday next, July 17tli, an account of the noted Jersey breeder, Mr D. Watkin, at Huiroa. Mr Watkin’s name is so well-known amongst Jersey people throughout Taranaki — and even further afield—that he needs no introduction, but it may be well to bear in mind that Mr Watkin is going right out of the dairying bin ness and is selling his very choice herd absolutely without reserve. The op portunity is therefore an exceptional one for farmers and Jersey breeders generally to obtain high-class stock ol proved merit in the dairying world, for it has to he remembered that Mr Watkin has won more prizes for his Jersey cattle than any other man in Taranaki. It would be superfluous

to mention all the high-bred lots to bo offered, but amongst them will be several direct descendants of the fashionable and very-highly-thought-of “Campanile Sultan.” The cow “Marigold II,” is by “Silver King,” and was bred by Mi’ G. Gould of Christchurch. ~Marigold’s dam is also dam of the famous bull “Starlight,” to whom more honours in the prize ring {have fallen than to any other bull jin , New Zealand A large proportion iof the young stock are by “Grand Signal,” whose performances are fam(iliar to most breeders. The Grade {Jersey stock to be offered are princi!pally by the imported sire “Yankee I Sweet” and “K.C. sth,” recognised as j two of the very best butter-fat bulls jin New Zealand at the present time. ■ The champion cow “Cherry’s Fairy,” 'a prize-winher in every show in TaraInaki, is included in the splendid lot !of grade stock to I>e offered. This jeow is by “K.C.U.”, a bull considered Iby many people to be probably the 'most fashionable in the Dominion. The ! sale is sure to be largely attended, {and for the convenience of buyers, {conveyances will leave Mr Newton ,King’s Stratford office at 9.30 o’clock !on the morning of the sale.
