EARTHQUAKE SHOCK. [Per Press Association,] Auckland, July 12. A sharp earthquake was felt here about 1.30 o'clock this morning. THE BANDSMEN'S DISPUTE. luvercargill, July 12. The dispute between the Band Contest Committee and the South - Island Association regarding the appointment of a judge has been settled. Tne committee drops its advocacy of Mr Jones, and the association that of Mr Wade, in favour of an. English judge who officiates ; at Ba 11arat. The contest; takes place in November. BAN DSMEX'S TROUBLE.
Christchurch, July 12. Mr Wade has written to the secretary of the South Island Bands' Association oancelling his acceptance of the post or judge at the Invercargill contest.
