Mr B. R. Wise, who has returned from a visit to England, says—“ The people there are looking to Australia to prevent the American Beef Trust forking up the price of meat to a standard prohibitive to the poor. If the Trust captured Australia the prices of moat at Smithfiekl could be fixed day by day. Six men were controlling the trust. It is no wonder far-sighted men are looking to Australia to keep open competition, which is the only safeguard the English poor have against prices which bring them near to starvation
