At the New Zealand Rugby Union .Management Committee meeting tonight, an application was received Tom Southland for permission to state a case to the English Union regarding the reinstatement of players vho had taken part in the League ?ame, and now desired to come back into the Rugby Union ranks. It was lecided that under Rule 2C, dealing with professionalism, there was no further right of appeal in this case.

MAORIS DEFEAT HOROWHENUA

The Maori representatives defeated tlio Horowhenua representatives at Levin to-day, by 7 points to 6, after an interesting and exciting game. The visitors showed fine passing capacity, and excellent judgment in linekicking. Horowhenua played well, <t,.d almost won the game, but five minutes from the no-side call linking! potted a splendid goal for the Maoris, and placed them one point ahead.

TO-DAY’S MATCH POSTPONED

The senior match set down for decision on the showgrounds tin’s afternoon between Clifton and Stratford will not be played, as Clifton is unable to raise a team, principally owing to the closing down of the Freezing Works. The match may be played later.
