HON. GEO. FOWLDS

At the afternoon sitting a long dis, cussion took place on the “fighting platform” of the Federation, which, with the objective, was finally adopted, with one or two minor amendments.

The following letter, addressed to the president of the Congress, was road:—“Dear Sir, —The Labor Unity Congress having adopted for the United Federation of Labor a constitution and platform which I cannot but regard as distinctly revolutionary in character, and bound to bring disorder to the cause of labor, it is absolutely impossible for me to take part in any political organisation that is in association with it. Respectfully, therefore, I have to announce, through you, that I hereby sever my connection with the Labor Unity Congress; and I can only hope that, ere long, labor may be more wisely guided than seems to be the case to-day. Thanking you for your courtesy, yours sincerely, (signed) Geo. Fowlds.” The letter was received, states the official report, “with ironical cheers.”
