CO'S. REPORT.
Matthews, Bennett, and Co. report that owing to the wet weather there was only a small entry of stock in their Ingle,voort yards on Wednesday last. Nearly everything; was sold as follows:—Calves £1 6s 6d to £1 19s, store cows (good) £3 10s to £4 6s, old £1 12s to £2 15s, springers £4 15s to £7. At Mr J. P. Jensen's sale on the Tariki Road on Monday there was a good attendance, and hidding wa-s good, early calvers being keenly competed for. The following prices were obtained: Good early calvers £7 to £l3 2s 6d, backward £3 7s 6d to £6 15s, in calf .heifers £3 15s to £7, calves £2 10s, empty heifers £3 2s 6d, horses £5 to £ls, and implements and sundries at satisfactory prices. At Mr R. Hoskins' sale at Lepperton on Thursday there was a good attendance. Early calvers made £6 5s to £lO 10s. late do. £3 5s to £5 15s, springing heifers £5 to £8 7s 6d. On acount of other vendors: Springers £7 to £lO 10s, in calf heifers £3 to £5. Newton King's Weekly Repor*. On Monday, 30th June, there was a small entry in my Ilrenui yards, the whole being cleared at satisfactory prices as follows:—Weaner to yearling heifers from £1 18s to £2 7s 6d, and £2 18s for a fair line of grade Jerseys, mixed Shorthorn yearlings (good) £2 3s, store cows £2 6s to £3 12s, .forward cows £4. 8s to £5 7s 6d, fat cows £5 18s to £6 10s, springing heifers £4 to £6 7s 6d, dairy cow, calved, £8 ss, small lambs 7s 6d, a nice line of ewe hoggets sold under keen competition at 12s, fat wethers 19s 7d, forward wethers (late shorn) 17s od, store wethers 15s 7d. ,Ar Rahotu on Tuesday, Ist inst., weaner heifers sold at from £1 Iss to £2 6s, mixed weaners £1 lis 6d to £1 15s 6d, weaner steers £1 15s to £2 5s for a well grown line, store cows £2 17s to £3 18s, forward cows £4 lis. The excellent prices obtained at my recent clearing sales, as recorded in my last two reports, have been well maintained during the week, verj satisfactory sales having been held. On Friday, 27th ult., I had a good attendance for Mr C. Evan's sale on the Barrett Road. The herd were mostly bred by Mr Evans, and showed a lot of Jersey, and although some were very aged, and some not calving until February, they sold at excellent prices averaging £lO 8s 3d for the line.. Bpnnett/s Stewart ußoad, Eltham, the,re : .was a good attendance of buyers .and excellent competition for all yqung cows, these selling at from £lO os to £l4 ss, the lino of 89 cows averaging £9. 2s, a very satisfactory price wlien it is taken into account that this average includes 10 aged or 5 cows which sold at from £3 2s 6d to £5 ss ; best springing heifers brought from £6 2s 6d to £8 os, small £4 ss, choice yearling heifers £2 10s, heavy bull £7 15s, milking plant £52, breeding sows £2 7s 6d to £3 12s 6d, roan mare £l3 10s, roan : gelding £ls, 2-year colt by Victory £lO 15s, forward mixed sheep 12s, gig £lO 10s, milk cart £9 15s, waggon £l3 10s, bay mare bv Torledo £ll, mower £l3, s.f. plough £O.
At Xgaero on "Wednesday, 2nd, fr Mr C. H. Harrison's clearing sale, notwithstanding the very wet day, there was a good attendance of buyers, and the herd of 26 cows (which included one empty cow, 4 three-quarter cows and a good number aged) averaged £8 os 6d. The young cows sold up to £l2, fcows £4 to £6, aged cows from £5 to £7 15s. On the same day, at Warea, in heavy rain, 1 conducted a sale on account of Mr Fred Roberts. Competition was good for tho young t-?ws of the herd, these selling at from £lO to £l3, cows showing some age from £6 to £8 10s, very aged cows £2 12s 6cl to £3 15s (making a very satisfactory average of £7 ss). Prices were:—ls- - steers £3, empty heifers £3 ss, small bull £2, mixed weaners £1 16s, aged gokling £lO, 8-year good mare £26, spring tip dray £l6, cart harness £5 10s, s.f. plough £6 10s.
