At the Supreme Court to-day, the Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout) sentenced Ceo. Maxwell, alias H. Watson, who had pleaded guilty to six charges of forgery and uttering, and live charges of false pretences, to terms amounting in all to eighteen months' imprisonment and declared him an habitual criminal.

Charles Allan, on two charges of forgery and uttering, and one charge of false pretences, was ordered to come up for sentence when called up-
