Sydney, July 5. Ventura has keen scratched for the Epsom Handicap, and Midnight Sun for the Metropolitan.

On the second day the totalisator handled £13,998, making the total for the meeting £27,757, as compared with £19,663 last'year, an increase of £8094. Additional results:—
Turangaiuu Hack Steeplechase, of 100 sovs; two miles.—-2 Donzel, 10.13, 1; 4 Heyboy, 9.11, 2; 1 Stroller, 10.0, 3. Won by about three lengths, with the third horse six lengths away. Reservoir lost his rider. Time, 4min 8 2-5 sec.
Farwell Handicap.—l Roosevelt, 9.2, 1; 3 Montiform, 9.12, 2; 5 Gazette, 90, 3. Won comfortably by four lengths, with a similar distance between second and third. Time, lmin 44 2-ssec.
There was a noisy demonstration against the totalisator at the conclusion of the last race. When the machine closed, backers of Montiform were under the impression that the horse would pay a big dividend, but it came to paying out it was noticed that 200 tickets had been taken off Roosevelt's total and added to Montiform's. fj The officials of the totalisator addressed the crowd, oxplaining that a mistake had been made, but the crowd were not satisfied, and hooted for a considerable time.
