GISBORNE RACING CLUB. [Per Press Association.] Gisborne, July 4
For the second day there was glorious weather and a large attendance. Results:—
Kurdles.—CalJy Bridge, 1, Loch Mabin 2, Forward 3. Won by a length, several lengths between second ana third. Scorch fell. Time, 3min 52sec. Maiden Hack.—Chortle 1, Soultie 2, Sliona May 3. Scratched: Lord Gazeley. Won by two lengths. Time, lmin '3 2-ssec. ; Waikanae Handicap.—Mummer 1, Multiply 2, Montiform 3. Scratched: Auldearn. A slashing finish. Won by half a length, a. neck separating second and third. Time, lmin 29sec.
Haparae Steeplechase.— Napper Tandy 1, Lugeon 2, Red McGregor 3. Also started: Hauteye. Lugeon and Red McGregor fell, the latter rolling "on his rider (O'Connell) who was rendered unconscious. A Maori, weighing 12. stone, remounted Reel McGregor and raced for second money, but Grey, having remounted Lugeon, secured this place by a. head. Napper Tandy was. first easily by several lengths. Time, omin 25sec.
Second Hack Handicap.—Gazette 1, Merton 2, Carburetter-3. Scratched: Patti, Gazeka, Fascimile, Fighting Maid, Connie, Golden Grain. Won by two lengths. Time, lmin 17scc.
A London cablegram states that the Prince of Wales Stakes resulted : —Lance Chest 1, Cataiud 2, Fortyfoot 3.
