The bravery of the crew of tha warship Louisiana saved the vessel from disaster. A valve broke while the engines were being overhauled, and the en-gine-room was flooded. The vessel was in danger of sinking, when Captain Potts organised a party, at imminent risk of drowning, and dosed the hole. The vessel was unable to be beached, because the fires were out.
