WELLINGTON DIOCESAN SYNOD. [Per Press Association. 1 Wellington, July 2. The Wellington Diocesan Synod to day endorsed the proposals of the General Synod for the celebrations of the Marsden Centenary. COMMITTED FOR FORGERY. Wellington, July 2. At the Magistrate’s Court to-day, Oscar Blair, with several aliases, ap peared on three charges of forgen committed in 1908 in Wellington and Masterton. Accused pleaded guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.

POLICE ASSOCIATION. Wellington, July 2. Mr A. Rosser, Dominion organiser of the New Zealand Police Association, this evening met a fair number of the force in Wellington, with the result that it was decided to form a Wellington branch of the Association forthwith. MARRYING IN HASTE. f Dunedin, July 2. At the Police Court this morning before Mr Bartholomew, S.M., Peter Wadsworth was charged with, on the Ist of July, knowingly and wilfully making a declaration for the purpose of obtaining a registrar’s certificate, authorising a marriage between himself and Margaret Tood, by stating that the girl was 21 years of age. The marriage took place yesterday at the office of the registrar. When arrested accused and his wife were about to leave for Gisborne, where accused said he had employment. They came from Wyndharn the day before, i and induced two persons to act as witnesses at the marriage. Accused admitted that he knew the girl was under 21 years of age. Edward Tood, father of the girl, said she left home on Monday for a music lesson and did not return. His daughter would lie li on the Bth of July. He was never consulted as to his consent to the marriage. He had told accused not tr come near his place, ns he was not Hood enough to come into the family. On the application of counsel for accused, lie was committed to the Sup rome Court at Wellington for sentence, hut in the afternoon, counsel asked that the accused he committed for trial in Dunedin. This was agreed to. bail being allowed.
