i O FEDERAL REVENUE. j [By Electric Telegraph — Copyright] [United Press Association.] Melbourne, July 1. | The Commonwealth revenue for the | year was .£121,877,126, compared with £20,422,300 last year. Customs and Excise yielded £15,536,606, an increase of £1,826,407.
THE STORM IN SYDNEY. Sydney, July 1. The storm has abated, and tho rain lias ceased. There have been only six line days in the past four months, during which over 44 inches of rain has been recorded. N.S.W. YEARLY REVENUE. (Received 10.15 a.m.) Sydney, July 2. In New South Wales the expenditure for the year was £17,002,358, leaving a deficit of £1,167,017. WOOL SALES. QUEBNSLAN I) REVENUE. Brisbane, July 2. The revenue was £6,378,212, being an increase of £388,865. THE TASMANIAN FIGURES. Hobart, July 2. Tho revenue was £1,206,055. SOUTH AUSTRALIA’S REVENUE. Adelaide, July 1. The year’s revenue is a record. With savings iu estimated expenditure it ended with a surplus of £185,000. During the last seven years 2£ millions have been paid off the public debt from surpluses. ,
NEW SOUTH WALES RAILWAYS. Sydney, July 1. The gross earnings of the State railways during the past year were £6,800,994, an increase of £268,820. DRINK AND SEASICKNESS. Sydney, July 1. At the inquest on Herert Hernshaw, a passenger frdtti Auckland, on the last trip of the steamer'Victoria, who was fohhd in his cabin,with his throat cut, a verdict of suicide was returned. The evidence showed that he was suffering from the effects of liquor and sea-sickness. THE BROOME TRAGEDY. Perth, July 1. Spargo has been executed for the murder of Jones in May last. A cablegram from Perth, dated May 30, said : —Charles Spargo has been sentenced to death for the murder of Gilbert Jones at Broome. Jones was found shot in a swamp, and his property was discovered in the possession of Spargo, who also drew £2O in Jones’ name from the Savings Bank.
SYDNEY DOMAIN DISTURBANCE. Sydney, July 1. Carterer, the domain orator,, whom the crowd hunted on Sunday, was remanded on a charge of addressing an assemblage in language calculated to create a breach of the peace. The police described him as a rabid anarchist, decidedly against all authority, who would not hesitate to assail human life. He was a companion of Continental socialists. Carterer, describing himself as a Dane, denied that he was an anardust. Ho favored peace and order. Ihe trouble arose through Chidley, who was being hunted and leered at by a crowd, seeking his protection.
