Second Edition SYDNEY GOVERNMENT HOUSE.

j.By Electric Telegraph—Coi'YlllUHT

[United Press Association.] (Received 8.45 a.m.) Sydney, June 25

A large meeting of citizens was held in the Town Hall, the Lord Mayor presiding. It was decided to appeal to the Privy Council against the High Court decision in the Government House eviction case.

Subscription lists were opened to meet the costs of the appeal, and £BOO was subscribed in the room. Speakers clafmed that the majority of people favour retaining Government House as a residence for the Governor-Gen-eral: In view of the previous verdict of the Supreme Court of the State as opposed to the High Court verdict, a question such as this, which stirred the' hearts of the people, should be tested before the highest tribunal in the Empire.
