CLAY PIGEON SHOOTING.
Napier, June 23. * On the Napier Ironimite Gun Club's grounds to-day, the annual clay pigeon match for the championship of Xew Zealand was shot off. The entries totalled 39, and were considered satisfactory iii the extreme, representing the best shots of the whole Dominion. Competitors were represented from as far south as Alexandra South, and as far north as Auckland. The weather was cold, and a disconcerting wind, with occasional showers, swept across tho grounds. The "birds" were active, and frequently deceived the guns, the resulting shooting being very poor. The conditions of the shoot were 21 birds, at unknq,wn angles, all guns, on the 38 yards mark. Following are the details of the shooting of the winner and two runners up:—
