dwellinghouses destroyed

Dunedin, June 22

A fire occurred at Caversham about seven o’clock on Saturday evening in a five-roomed house owned by Charles John Thorne, a builder and contractor, and occupied by Hans George Rappe, electrical engineer. Two rooms were destroyed, and the rest of the house saved, the damage amounting to £llO. Insurances were £325 on the house in the London and Globe Office, and £l5O on the furniture in the Royal 'Exchange Office. Ashburton, June 22. An eight-roomed*, house at Tinwald, owned and occupied by Mr Johnston, a farmer, was, with its contents, totally destroyed by fire late yesterday afternoon. The building was insured for £250, and the furniture for £IOO, both in the Commercial Union office.
