SUPREME COURT.

A NEW PLYMOUTH SENTENCE, New Plymouth, June 23.

In the Supreme Court, H. F. Smith, who was charged with indecent assault and common assault, and convicted on the latter charge, was sentenced to twelve months’ imprisonment and declared an habitual criminal, Judge Edwards saying that he could not understand the jury’s verdict, as it was indecent assault or nothing.
