In order to check the admission of Hindus and Malays from the Philippines to the Pacific Coast, the immigration regulations have been modified, empowering officers to reject aliens coming from insular possessions unless able to show that they are not members of any excluded class or likely to become a public charge. Thousands of Hindus hitherto gained admission to the United States without difficulty, once they had been admitted to the Philippines.
